(As you would expect) Facebook has a high-profile presence at Cannes Lions! Housed at the glorious Majestic Hotel, directly across from the main festival venue – I caught up with Dan Neary, Vice President of Asia Pacific at Facebook. Dan listed three areas during the Festival he was most excited about.
- Advertising Technology (adtech) Innovation: Deep and relevant consumer targeting via digital advertising/amplification is one of THE conversation at Cannes this week.
- Explosion of Video — especially on mobile: Conversations are becoming more visual. People already view 4 billion videos per day on Facebook, most via mobile devices. Huge and growing quickly!
- Built around People (Real Identity): delivering trusted and ‘real’ audience, which is a Facebook strength – esp. via mobile, which don’t accept cookies
However, it’s a creative festival and Dan reinforced just how great creative is more important than ever, saying ‘reach with creativity is how brands truly win!”
Dan’s also passionate about the Asia-Pacific marketing and creative industries and is happy to see work from across the region growing in importance at Cannes – believing that we’ll see work from the region becoming even more celebrated and awarded going forward.
