Starting a New Narrative About the Role of Black Excellence in American History
Creative Ideation & Production, Brand Advertising, Purpose & Impact
Working with the oldest African American history museum in the country—and knowing that museums are considered a more reliable source of historical information than books, teachers, or even personal accounts by relatives*—we sought to educate the general public on the role Black heroes and pioneers played in our collective history.
Using famously-known imagery of iconic moments in America’s history, we highlighted the Black heroes whose roles were integral to these successes, but whose stories were ‘cut out’ of the narrative; visually reminding, and proudly proclaiming, that Black History is American History.
